Inquiry into personal experiencing

(2000-2002)

The images in this room are wonderfully illustrative of a personal journey undertaken by Kay Thorburn, while completing our Graduate Diploma programme. Kay has graciously provided context statements to accompany each work, which were at the time, the only artwork she had ever done. “I sort of discovered that I could draw and make other forms of representation since starting [at] MIECAT.”

At the time Kay used the largest size of paper available (55x70cm) yet now wishes they were a lot larger. Since working on this series she has “discovered” a larger format she feels is more suited to her “stretched figures.”

All artwork is pastel on paper and all photos were taken by Kay herself.
