Courses

MIECAT offers a number of programmes of study run on a part time basis. These are available to candidates from both undergraduate and postgraduate backgrounds. Please note that currrently MIECAT is not an approved provider of courses for people studying in Australia on student visas. Prospective Overseas Students are instead directed to make further enquiries at the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Currently MIECAT includes the following courses within the annual timetable:

• A Graduate Certificate in Experiential & Creative Arts Therapy.
• A Graduate Diploma in Experiential & Creative Arts Therapy.
• A Master of Arts (by Research) and a Master of Arts (by Supervision). The Master of Arts by Supervision programme caters for those practitioners wishing to develop their professional skills and work therapeutically using phenomenological, experiential and multi-modal methods of counselling.
• A Professional Doctorate in Experiential & Creative Arts Therapy. This programme caters for professionals working in the field or engaged in research who have a keen interest in the phenomenological, paticipatory or experiential practicalities and underlying philosophies in methods of inquiry.

Professional Development Programmes

In addition to our courses of study a series of Professional Development Programmes are often run each year. These usually take the form of classes held across a few days or in a weekend format. They are suitable either as stand-alone experiential education or as additional units of study for those enrolled within one of our courses of study. Professional accreditation by the APS or other similar organisations is sometimes available so please be sure to ask about this.

It should be noted that Professional Development programmes when run are by their nature more susceptible to change than our courses. We will endeavour to keep students informed of recent developments, however always be sure to check the News section of this site or contact us for the latest details.
